Random Round-Up #23

And here is your dose of random:

I was lamenting about how much my stepsons have grown and how quickly.  I can’t believe my oldest will be in college this time next year.  When I asked my youngest stepson, C, “where did the time go” he responded by motioning behind him and saying “that way”.  Funny, little punk.

I spend a lot of time driving my kids around to basketball games and practices.  When I drive by middle stepson, R, the ride is usually filled with sarcasm since we both are fluent.  He said something snarky and I responded with “I’ve been here nearly all of your life and that is how you treat me” with fake exasperation and hurt.  He responds sounding like he isn’t sure if I was really offended with “hey, you know we always pick on each other”.  I laughed and thought, heh, I’m better at sarcasm than he is.  Score one for me.

We have been trying to convince my son T to cut his hair for a while now.  We usually shave it off, then let it grow and shave it again.  But this time he simply refused to let us cut it.  It was really looking shaggy and curling up on the ends.  He said that he wanted it long so that he could be like an animal that grows extra hair in the winter to keep warm.  Since he is playing basketball and running around, we tried telling him that he would get less sweaty if he had short hair for basketball.  I don’t think that really made a difference but he finally allowed us to shave it.  Now all he is doing is complaining his head is cold.  But hey, he no longer resembles our Samoyeds.

And here are some posts I read recently and would like to share with you:

  • This post combines community togetherness with the pure goal of revenge.  Snarky in the Suburbs is a genius.
  • I found this post by Late Enough to be quite hilarious.  Especially after my kids burst into my bathroom while I was showering and starting giggling uncontrollably.
  • I really liked this idea from The Martha Project.  Such a neat way to personalize Christmas for the kids.

Thanks so much for including me. I have been so sick so I’m a little behind on my internettings. You’ve got some good stuff up there. :)

  3. My husband grew his hair out in high school and college and just used hair bands for sports :) he’s actually back in that phase again.

Thanks for the shout out too!

  4. Ha! I thought this post seemed familiar but I brushed it off. Shouldve looked at the comments and the date. Oops!

    • My bad actually. I updated a bunch of categories and tags on my posts and didn’t even think about the ping backs being resent to folks. Oops! Keeping folks on their toes :)
