Calm My Crazy: Our Songs

On Twitter and Facebook I’ve seen a lot of folks celebrating anniversaries this month.  October is an important month for Hubby and I as well.  This reminded me of the songs that we associate with our relationship.  We used both of them at our wedding reception, one for our first dance as husband and wife and one as the last dance of the reception.

Although I prefer the duet version and it is the duet that we danced to and that we consider our first song, I could only find this version on YouTube.

From This Moment On by Shania Twain featuring Bryan White symbolized starting our life together.

As we started off, the first few years were tough and I was more and more amazed by how Hubby can handle ups and downs.  That’s where the second song came in.

Amazed by Lonestar always has me tearing up and full of love.  He is amazing to me.

Calm My Crazy: My Man

I’ll admit it.  I’m a little bit high maintenance.  I have quirks.  Issues. Whatever.

No ordinary guy is going to cut it with me.  I would break ordinary.

Lucky for me I have an extraordinary man to call my own.

Is he perfect?  For me, yes.

Sure there are times when he leaves water all over the counter in the kitchen.

Or says “What?” when I complain that no one is listening to me.  He finds that hilarious.  Me, not so much.

You know, normal annoyances when you are all up in each other’s business all the time.

But he supports me and loves me for who I am.

He tries to help and refrains when I tell him to stop helping and just shut up and listen.

I honestly don’t know what I would do without him.  He is my other half.  My best friend.  My one and only.

And he calms my crazy.

My Friend

Sometimes it is dark

Sometimes it is light

Sometimes I seem lost

Sometimes I’m alright

Whenever I’m scared

Or feeling bleak

You always are there

Whenever I’m weak

You lift me up

Hold my hand til the end

My soulmate, my other half

Forever my friend

Hey, I wrote a poem for this prompt:

4.) Write a poem where the last two words are ‘my friend’.

Wordful Wednesday: Honeymoon Honeys

I made this a “wordful” post because I definitely wanted to comment on these pics.  These are from our honeymoon in Hawaii and looking at them made me want to go back and do it all over again (duh).

This first one was on a drinking cruise.  They had lots of alcohol and entertainment and the greatest views of the coast and sea.  We look so happy in this photo and I love that beautiful background.

These next 3 photos are from when we hiked up to see the lava flow.  We actually were close enough to touch the flowing lava.  There were idiots poking at the lava with sticks and putting stuff in it to melt!  I could not believe they let us get that close.  I was terrified that I would trip and fall in.  Apparently they don’t let folks go up to the flowing lava like that anymore so it was definitely a once in a lifetime experience.  The first is the hardened lava across a roadway.

Then me next to the flowing lava.  And Hubby next to the flowing lava.

They told us to take tons of water and for me not to wear my contacts because of the heat.  We headed the advice and they were not kidding.  It was really, really hot!

Here is a photo before our helicopter tour.  I can NOT believe I rode in a helicopter!  I am afraid of heights and this tiny little thing flying over a freaking volcano was incredibly scary. But also exhilarating!  I loved it.

We stayed at 2 different resorts, the first of which we could swim with the dolphins which was a life long dream of mine (as a kid I would have loved to become a marine biologist).  We only have video of that though.  The second resort was amazingly beautiful!  I could go on and on about it and tell tons more stories but I’ll just add this one more photo to show how awesome it was.

OK, so who wants to send me and Hubby on an all expenses paid trip to Hawaii?  Anyone?  Bueller?

Down the Aisle – Favorite Wedding Photo

When Hubby and I got married, it was very important that we include my stepsons in the ceremony and make it about becoming a family.  We made sure there were references to them during the ceremony and they got to walk down the aisle and sit right up front.  So my favorite photo from my wedding day is one that includes all of us.  Although we were already functioning as a family, on this day and in this photo, it was official.  Hubby was mine forever and these boys were really my own.  I love them all very much and am privileged to have them in my life.

Future Sister Wife

It wasn’t long ago that I posted how my daughter was intending to marry several boys when she grows up.  She didn’t quite understand that it isn’t exactly the norm to have multiple spouses but since she is five, I’m thinking it is OK for her to make plans like these.

Now she is interested in polygamy from a different angle.  Apparently she and her best girlfriend have decided that they will both marry a certain boy in their class and the three of them will all live together, happily ever after.  Yes, that’s right, she has decided to be a sister wife.  I do find it amusing that she had to think for a few minutes to remember the boy that they will marry because I think she is really most interested in living with her friend as an adult.  She and her friend are constantly talking about how much they love each other and want to spend all their time together.  So I think the boy is just extraneous.

I always find these marriage and living arrangement declarations from my youngsters amusing.  Personally I don’t see much benefit to having multiple spouses unless some are dedicated to keeping the house clean and running errands.
